Our Mission
We strive to provide the most comprehensive and individualized Physical Therapy services to address not only the symptoms but the root-cause of your issues or concerns to empower you to regain control of your ability to move and live life on your terms
Our Vision
Our goal is to be the first-line of defense in combatting movement problems and dysfunction BEFORE they become bigger issues, requiring more extensive, time-consuming and costly care as well as more debilitation and time away from the activities that you love to do

About Me

I move, therefore, I am....

My name is Jacob Wesney and I am the owner and lead Physical Therapist of Ground Up Physical Therapy.
My passion is movement; more specifically, how I can maintain my ability to move efficiently and effectively. It is my belief that movement can act as a medicine and just like any medicine it should be prescribed appropriately AND taken as prescribed to gain the maximum benefits. Both the abuse and neglect of movement can be detrimental to our immediate and chronic health.
These beliefs are a product of my experience which includes 10 years in the field of Physical Therapy (student and professional) as well as 5 additional years experience in the Strength & Conditioning profession. I have worked the full spectrum of Physical Therapy but have accepted that my passion lies with athletes and the active population, young and old, and how to maximize the potential to achieve those athletic goals we set for ourselves. Whether that was working with a soldier in basic training wanting to be the first in his family to become an infantryman, the 5th string cornerback working to gain enough agility for the coach to notice and find a special teams spot for him, or the Crossfit athlete who keeps straining her back and can't pull the bar off the ground, I want to help individuals continue to be healthy and active and achieve their goals.

I consider myself lucky that I decided leave the world of coaching and return home to attend Physical Therapy School at Marshall University. Not only was I able to learn from a program with a wide spectrum of Physical Therapy experience but I was able to meet my wife, Ryann Wesney, as she ended up graduating in the class behind me. Together we've brought two boys into this world, Benson and Wade, and can't help but enjoy every second with them.

Thank you for your interest in our staff and our mission to maximize our community's ability to move in the most healthy way possible!!
